Counselling Psychologist providing face to face and online psychological therapy and supervision.
Welcome! I qualified as a counselling psychologist over 2 decades ago and, since that time, have been working within both the NHS and my own independent practice, helping clients to break unhelpful patterns and secure greater self awareness and agency. A warm, flexible practitioner, I will structure therapy around your own unique need and I work with a range of useful interventions to support self development and insight. I offer both time limited contracts alongside longer term support where appropriate and many of my clients revisit me when life events precipitate the need for a reflective space. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I draw on what are known as 'third wave approaches' such as Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am skilled at helping clients to break from reactive patterns of emotional over thinking toward more measured coping responses.
I have over 10 years experience of working within the NHS as part of a Clinical Health Psychology Service and I have worked extensively with clients experiencing a debilitating physical health diagnosis. I also have over 20 years of experience as a senior lecturer in the HE sector, teaching psychological theory and skills to trainee therapists of various different therapeutic modalities. I am skilled at the implementation of a range of therapeutic approaches and interventions and I believe in fostering a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship as the basis for client reflection, insight and growth.
I am currently seeing clients mostly via online platforms such as Zoom and Vsee. If you are a new referral, please email me and let me know whether you are looking for face to face or online sessions. I am able to see a small number of clients face to face at my consulting room in Highgate but places are limited.
I am an approved psychology provider with all of the major health insurance companies such as BUPA, AXA, Cigna, WPA, Aviva, Pru Health and Vitality Health.

With a background in Clinical Health Psychology, I have specialist experience at working with women's physical health and well being including reproductive health, pregnancy and infertility, gynaecological disorders, women's cancers and menopause. I devised the first chronic pain psychology group within the London Borough of Haringey as well as a psycho education support group for women with experience of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I am committed to providing women with a safe and trusting space within which they can share their health concerns and receive multi modal therapeutic support.
My Central London practice is in a beautiful Georgian town house overlooking The British Museum on Bloomsbury Street, London WC1.
My consulting room is on the third floor and is extremely quiet with excellent facilities. The consulting room is easily accessible from Tottenham Court Road, Holborn and Russell Square Underground stations.
My North London therapy practice is in Swains Lane, Highgate, moments from Hampstead Heath and close to both Gospel Oak rail station and Kentish Town underground station.
The practice is also easy to get to from Archway, Tufnell Park and Muswell Hill. There is street parking at the Highgate practice after 12pm.
You can refer yourself for therapy by contacting me directly by email to arrange an initial consultation appointment. Contacting me by email is the fastest way to make contact and I encourage this form of communication as I check emails on a daily basis and will get back to you quickly.
Alternatively, you can leave a message on my 24 hour answer machine service (07903 370122) if you do not have access to email. Please note however that I am not able to offer call backs as all the information you could need about my practice is available on my web pages. You can also be referred by your GP or another health care professional.
During the initial consultation appointment you and I will discuss your difficulties so that I can get an understanding of what is going on for you. This will also be an opportunity for you to talk about what your expectations are for therapy. Generally, this will take one session. At the end of this initial consultation it may be that I think a different therapist with a different expertise, or a different organisation, might be more suitable to help you with your needs in which case I will discuss this with you further. If we agree that it would be helpful to work together then we will discuss arrangements for ongoing sessions.
